As we wish Marc Jacobs a Happy 49th Birthday, we take a look back at his style files…
Marc Jacobs was fired from Perry Ellis for his grunge collection so in 1994 he launched his own label and was supported by supermodel, Naomi Campbell who worked for him for free. Then in 1997 he was appointed creative director at Louis Vuitton.
Jacobs knows all about the changing face of fashion, so here he is working geek-chic with Rachel Bilson at the opening of the LA Marc Jacobs store in 2005.
Feeling blue. Jacobs died his hair blue for the Takashi Murakami gala at LA’s Musuem of Contemporary Art. It was a tribute to the Japanese artist who he collaborated with for the Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2003 collection.
Jacobs’ showed of his new slender physique in 2008.
In May 2009 Jacobs’ took Kate Moss as his date to the 2009 Costume Institute Ball, where Model As Muse was the theme.
In August 2009 he designed a couture gown for Miss Piggy for the Macy’s Glamorama party in New York.
In May 2010 he was joined by the gorgeous Elle Macpherson at the opening of Louis Vuitton’s huge flagship store in London.
In June 2010 Marc Jacobs was honoured with the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award in 2010.
